Bed and Breakfast in WIA MOVABLE FEAST is the best way to describe a gourmet dinner which begins at one of Fish Creek's three historic inns, continues on to a second for the main course then finishes at the third for dessert. Plan now to attend one of the Annual Progressive Holiday Dinner Weekends as guests of either the Thorp House Inn, the White Gull Inn or the Whistling Swan. Each inn has a memorable weekend in store for you, culminating Saturday evening in a five course dinner complete with wine. Dinners will be held the first three weekends of December plus January 4 & 5. THE DINNER begins at 5:00pm, with hors d' oeuvres at the charming Thorp House Inn, built in 1902 by Freeman Thorp, of the founding family of Fish Creek. Following Freeman's death in 1903, the house served as tourist lodging for more than 80 years before being restored and converted into a bed and breakfast inn by current owner–innkeepers Chris and Sverre Falck–Pedersen in 1986. The innkeepers will be on hand to relate the history of the Thorp House, and serve appetizers. Live musical entertainment will be included. DINNER GUESTS will then be transported on to the White Gull Inn by horse–drawn wagons past the many homes and businesses decorated for the holidays. The White Gull Inn celebrated its one hundredth birthday in 1996. Built by Dr. Herman and Henriette Welcker, the White Gull is the oldest continuing operating inn in Door County. Innkeepers Andy and Jan Coulson and their staff will conduct tours and discuss the inn's history before serving the salad and main course. Again, live musical entertainment will add to the festive ambiance of the evening. GUESTS then will stroll down to Dr. Welcker's other famous inn, the Whistling Swan, for dessert. Built in 1887 in Marinette, Wisconsin, the Whistling Swan was moved across the frozen waters of Green Bay in 1907 to its current spot by the Welckers. It became known as Dr. Welcker's Casino, and was the center of his growing resort. The Whistling Swan was totally renovated in 1986, and is now the home of five elegant rooms and two suites, as well as the Whistling Swan Shop. Current innkeepers Jim and Laurie Roberts will proudly conduct tours of the inn before serving dessert. Seasonal music will be performed on the Swan's original baby grand piano. THE PROGRESSIVE DINNER is open to weekend guests of the Thorp House Inn, White Gull Inn or the Whistling Swan Inn. Dinner weekends: Nov 30 & Dec 1, Dec 7&8, 14&15, 2007, Jan 4&5 2008, Jan 18&19 2008 (Martin Luther King Weekend)
